2014-15 Wrap-Up
At the last meeting, President Dave highlighted our successes during the 2014-15 Rotary Year. We're very proud of all we've been able to accomplish by putting service above self.
- We sent 1200 wheelchairs to Africa.
- We donated Shelter Boxes to provide temporary shelter for those affected by disasters in Nepal and the Philippines.
- We provided 120 Unite to Light solar units so that children without electricity can study in the evenings.
- We planned 2 upcoming projects with our sister club in Compostela, Mexico and were happy to have 9 of their club members visit San Luis Obispo.
- We sent $36,000 to the Rotary Foundation, a new record for our club.
- We participated in a joint project with the other two SLO Rotary Clubs and our Rotaract Club to build a viewing platform at the the SLO County Airport.
- We provided $36,500 in scholarships to local students, our highest amount ever.
- We awarded $5,000 to local nonprofits to help them fill their budgetary needs.
- We provided 5 BBQ dinners to folks at the Homeless Shelter.
- We had our first Rotary Family picnic and several other successful socials.
- We inducted 14 new members and retained 94% of our members throughout the year.
Overall, our financial contributions were $101,267 with $65,300 supporting local efforts and $35,967 for international projects. Many thanks to Rotarians who generously opened their pockets as well as to community members who supported our Homes With a Distinction Tour and our Spaghetti-Western fundraiser.
